Currently, there are quite a few styles and trends in interior design. All of them have gradually evolved over time as science, technology, and architecture have progressed from ancient times to the present day. New trends are also emerging in our time, but styles that are no longer a reflection of their era, but still possess their own characteristic features, are becoming increasingly common.
All styles in interior design can be divided into two groups:
Historical
and Modern
The fundamental difference between them lies in the principle of interior design.
All historical styles utilize numerous decorative elements (cornices, moldings, rosettes, wood carvings, stone carvings, plaster moldings, etc.). They are characterized by grandeur and ornamentation, a return to the use of classical order. Ethnic styles are characteristic of a particular nation or ethnic group. Each has specific unique design elements related to the ethnic group's place of residence, climate, customs, traditions, building materials, etc. Modern styles are based on the design features of the house or apartment. In modern-style interior design, form dominates the decor, and vice versa, as in most styles of the historical group.
